Custom-written CV 'essential weapon' in applicant's arsenal
People applying for employment need to make sure that they create a custom-written CV for each application, people hunting sales jobs have been told.
Joan McFadden, writing for the Scotsman, said that many people draw up a basic CV and then use it to apply for every post "which is such a generalised approach".
She added that most potential employers are able to spot this type of CV immediately, so a tailor-made one is essential.
"When the advert appears for your dream job, take the time to read it properly and then apply it to your CV. Use exactly the same descriptions for skills, experience and qualifications as on the application guidelines," she advised.
Ms McFadden also commented that job hunters should always cover essential skills, qualifications and experience and ensure that everything in their work history is clearly relevant to the position.
Alexandra Kelly, founder of Powerchex, recently told ContractorUK.com that a lot of people are now being screened for the first time for their qualifications in order to identify liars.
