HR managers 'using online sources' for candidate screening
Human resource (HR) managers are increasingly using online profiles on social networking websites to assess the suitability of sales recruitment hopefuls, it has been revealed.
Felix Wetzel, group marketing director at Jobsite, said that this is something that will happen more in the future as people's lives become increasingly virtual.
"Whilst I think the future will see more employers using online sources to screen potential recruits, I think it will always be used alongside other methods such as CVs, telephone interviews, assessment days and references," he added.
The expert said that most employers recognise that having a life outside of work is not a bad thing and would not be put off by photos of a sales recruitment hopeful on a night out.
However, he warned that all employers are unlikely to be impressed by excessive bad language or any other discriminatory comments.
According to research from Microsoft, over 40 per cent of UK human resource managers assessed a candidate on their online profile last year.
