Sack threat for those that lie on CVs
People who lie on their CVs could be sacked from their job, even if they have been successful in sales recruitment drives, according to an industry expert.
Alexandra Kelly, founder of Powerchex, told Contractoruk.com that a lot of people are now being screened for the first time for their qualifications, with some being caught having made up degrees and other academic achievements.
She added that, in every case, these people had their contracts terminated, even though they had been with the client for a long time.
Gaps in CVs are an area which is commonly found to have been manipulated, while length of contract, responsibilities and previous salaries have also been tweaked.
"My advice is to not lie. Clients understand that times are tough and people are being made redundant, but they are ruthless with the lies," she told sales recruitment hopefuls.
In answering a reader's question about CV lies, Ms Kelly said that the best policy was to tell the truth, stating that candidates often do not need to lie about qualifications if experience can be proved.
