Applicants 'continuing to lie on their CVs'
The increased competition is causing more people to lie on their CVs in order to help them achieve sales recruitment success.
ThisisMoney.co.uk reported that new research by Powerchex, an east London business recruitment firm, showed that one of the most popular tactics includes overreporting a previous salary in order to get more pay in a new sales job.
It found that one if five applicants for financial sector positions had a discrepancy on their CV, an annual increase of 12 per cent. The firm said that lies about employment dates were most common, with people looking to close gaps in employment.
Alexandra Kelly, managing director of Powerchex, said: "In the recession, we've seen more people being deceptive about why they left a job. Rather than saying they have been made redundant, they claim the contract ended."
Sales recruitment hopefuls were also warned about the dangers of having unsuitable photos or information on their social networking profile, with more firms now starting to use these sites for background research.
