Nearly 100 per cent of sales recruitment hopefuls on Facebook

Nearly every student and graduate has a Facebook profile page, according to a study into young people's social networking habits.

The data, which has been published by graduate recruitment website Milkround.com, said that 98 per cent have a Facebook profile, ahead of 43 per cent who regularly visit MySpace and 38 per cent who use Twitter.

It also found that 18 per cent of sales recruitment hopefuls are turning to social networking to help them find a job.

The mass users of Facebook also open up the possibility of employers doing research on applicants by searching their profile, possibly stumbling across drunken or inappropriate photos.

However, the website found that only 13 per cent of people have an open profile, with the remaining 87 per cent keeping the whole page or certain aspects of it private to the outside world.

Last year, the Daily Mail reported that a 16-year-old girl was sacked from her job after moaning on Facebook about how boring her day had been.
