CV is 'one of the most important documents' for sales recruitment
Most job-seekers are not sure what a CV should contain and how it should be structured, according to a human resources expert.
Alice Chekwoti, writing for NewVision.co.ug, said that a CV is a marketing tool to ensure sales recruitment success, which needs to be written well in order to showcase specialist skills.
"One of the things I resented most was browsing through a long CV. Such is a complete turn-off, even for the most patient recruiter," she added.
Ms Chekwoti added that, on the other side of the coin, a brief CV will also not deliver the goods, so sales recruitment candidates need to make sure that they get the balance right.
Inconsistent CVs are also a "major turn-off" for managers, according to the expert.
She said that it is important to revise the CV several times to make sure that all employment dates are accurate and consistent with each other.
Paul Bradley, managing director of Bradley CVs, told the Guardian that listing the fact that references are available on request is a waste of space, while details such as a date of birth can also be safely omitted.
