Expert: A CV should not be an encyclopaedia
People hoping for sales recruitment success should make sure that their CV does not read like an encyclopaedia, according to an expert.
Christina Ng, a finance manager at human resource outsourcing firm Robert Walters Hong Kong, told EFinancialcareers.sg, that limiting a CV to one page is a good approach for new graduates, while a senior-level manager could get away with two to three pages.
"It should include a long record of leadership accomplishments and possibly examples of your vision, flexibility, ethics, integrity etc," she added.
Ms Ng also commented that any extra pages should be coherent and organised, grabbing the sales recruitment professional's attention, otherwise they could end up in the reject pile.
Candidates should also make sure that they do not 'time twist' and make up the dates of finishing a previous role, according to Amy Ho, manager of banking and financial services for Ambition in Hong Kong.
Other popular CV tips for sales recruitment success include making sure that employment spells are listed in order of the most recent first so that managers can see clearly what roles have been undertaken.
