CV and cover letter 'should get equal attention'
Giving equal amounts of attention to a CV and cover letter can help job hunters achieve sales recruitment success, according to an industry commentator.
Rebecca Clake, human resource expert for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, said that people need to be able to demonstrate quickly that they are an appropriate candidate with the skills and experience that an organisation is looking for.
"Look at the advert for the job and highlight key words and phrases. Try and use these key words and phrases in your covering letter and describe quickly how you fit the bill for the job," she added.
Ms Clake also said that it would also be beneficial to contact the firm's recruiting manager to get hold of a more detailed job description.
The Daily Inquirer also advised people hoping for sales recruitment success to explain in their cover letter why they want to work for the company that they are applying to.
