Sales job hunters 'should be cautious' on job boards
People looking for sales jobs should not give their full name on a CV which is going up on a job board, according to an industry expert.
Rob Scott, managing director of sales recruitment specialists Aaron Wallis, said that while internet job boards have their place in the industry, people should be wary of how much information they volunteer.
"If details are put onto a job board then the CV is entered onto their database. It then becomes 'open source' to anyone who pays to have access to the job board. It could therefore be accessed by your current employer or more worryingly by an identity thief," he added.
A town of residence should be given instead of a full address and a date of birth should also not be included, while names of parents, children or partners should be omitted.
Place of birth and primary school names are not needed, as these are commonly used as security questions when banking over the telephone.
Advice website GetSafeOnline.org also recommends that people choose strong passwords on job boards which are different to any other website subscription that they have.
