Sales recruitment: Graduates should hone their applications

Graduates applying for positions, such as sales jobs, should not waste their time trying to get roles which they have no chance of securing, according to one expert.

Tom Hadley, director of external relations at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, made the comments and said that people trying to find a job should focus on tailoring their CV so that it impresses employers in the field they want to work in.

He said: "Don't waste your time going for a lot of jobs that you've got no chance of getting. Obviously it helps if you've got in your head what you are looking for and what's feasible."

The director said the key to impressing is doing research and trying to get feedback from people working in recruitment so that potential employees make sure they are adding skills which are beneficial to their applications.

A recent survey by the Learning and Skills Council showed that 84 per cent of young people are worrying about their career prospects.
