Many jobseekers 'lack CV-writing skills'
Few people are able to carry out the art of writing CVs competently, it has been claimed.
Career counsellor Mindy Thomas stated that resume writing and seeking employment advice is vitally important for those seeking new employment, such as graduate sales jobs, in the downturn.
She added that a professionally-written resume can often provide the competitive edge needed to get to the interview stage in the tough employment market.
Ms Thomas continued: "Resume writing is an art and skill that most people don't have. After spending over a year as a recruiter in the legal profession, it became painfully obvious that even attorneys can't put together a well-written, succinct resume."
Studies by IT security group Proofpoint last week found that 35.8 per cent of employees in the UK have looked for a new job using their work email.
The company also found that staff are likely to use their office computer to give bad news, arrange after-work activities and end relationships.
