Rejected applicants 'should remain positive'

Those who have been turned down for sales jobs should remain positive and use the experience to prepare them for their second application, an organisation asserts.

Monster.co.uk uses the example of Ben Clarke from The Apprentice to highlight the important role that reflection should play for those who have had their career dreams shattered.

It says that candidates should continue to keep their sales jobs ambitions in sight and keep persevering.

"We all take knock backs and they don't always mean disaster," it asserts.

Among the questions that a jobseeker should ask themselves is whether they were looking to enter the field for the right reasons and to try and identify the cause of the problem. "Be prepared to reassess your goals," it advises.

Recent research by NORAS 2009 found that three quarters of jobseekers would be willing to retrain or relocate abroad to take a position if this were to guarantee them a place.
