Cover letters 'essential in job search'
Cover letters are vital when making a job application, it has been claimed.
According to Louise Kursmark, co-author of job hunt advice book 15-Minute Cover Letter, the only assumption jobseekers should make about their cover letter is that it will play a significant role in how hiring managers and recruiters perceive them.
"Cover letters offer a golden opportunity to link your set of skills, experience, talents and interests with a particular company or job," she continued.
Ms Kursmark went on to say a cover letter is a formal introduction to people who can be influential in a job search and prepares readers for the details, experiences and accomplishments highlighted in a CV.
Last week, Chris Morrall, a graduate recruitment careers management expert, claimed job hunters who remain positive and focused on their goal of obtaining a sales job will succeed despite the credit crunch.
He added that those looking at sales jobs should know their CVs "inside and out" as it is their "marketing document" and one of the likely areas they will be asked about during an interview.
