Firms 'using behavioural interview technique'
Behavioural interview questions are increasingly being used by companies in order to recruit staff, it has been revealed.
Career coaching provider Palladian International claims the technique tends to be used to get a picture of how a job candidate would handle the job.
"A behavioural interview question usually starts with 'Tell me about a time when
' and then describes a specific situation. Behavioural interview questions can target any situation that could arise in a job," the group added.
The company went on to outline typical questions asked during a job interview, such as 'Tell me about a time when you faced a difficult leadership challenge
' or 'Tell me about a time when you had a tight deadline to meet
'.
Last week, Dr John McGurk, advisor on skills and learning for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, claimed there are many jobs available in the UK despite the news of recent redundancies in the retail and manufacturing industries.
