Job-seeking skills 'lacking'
People currently losing their jobs in the uncertain economic climate are lacking in interviewing and CV writing skills, it has been claimed.
According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), many Britons who have recently been made unemployed are unlikely to have had an interview or put together a CV in a long time.
Gerwyn Davies, public policy adviser at the group, said that for some jobseekers there is "time to reflect on where your career aspirations lie but for others the priority is much more urgent and they need to get back to the job front as soon as possible".
He went on to emphasise that basic skills required to get onto the job ladder are essential.
The autumn 2008 Labour Market Outlook by the CIPD indicated 75 per cent of organisations are planning to recruit in the next three months, down from 81 per cent in summer 2008, while 26 per cent of enterprises surveyed are planning to make redundancies in the first quarter of 2009.
