CVs 'should be tailored to jobs'

Jobseekers should tailor their CVs carefully and use keywords effectively in order to give themselves the best employment prospects, it has been claimed.

David Hurst, managing director of job website Onrec.com, said some firms' sites will allow different resumes to be prepared for different roles that can be used as the basis for building a CV.

"It's a good idea to include as many key words as you can in your CV because to find a CV online there is software that will simply go through the CVs selecting the most relevant ones," he added.

Mr Hurst went on to say those looking for work should think about the skills and qualifications they have got and highlight them so that they are noticed by the interviewer.

Earlier this month, a study published by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and professional services firm KPMG revealed the deteriorating economic climate and ongoing credit squeeze have resulted in many companies placing recruitment programmes on hold.
