Extreme sports boost CV success
Those looking to improve their CV in order to obtain sales jobs should consider taking up an extreme sport, a new survey suggests.
SNO!zone's interviews with 500 employers shows 82 per cent thought being involved in extreme sports showed a candidate had energy and ambition.
Any interest in sport was seen as a positive by 94 per cent of those asked, while listing reading or cooking as hobbies were interpreted as showing a lack of drive by 60 per cent.
The brand manager of the researcher Lisa Allan claims employers looking to hire for positions such as sales jobs are interested in the personal interests section of candidate's CVs and suggests they are likely to be influenced by what is written there.
She says: "Personal interests give a good insight into an individual.
"Not only do employers want someone experienced and well qualified, they also want someone with the right personality to fit into the team and fulfil the vacant role," Ms Allan adds.
Managing director of Adecco Retail Steven Kirkpatrick recently recommended people looking for work to take up volunteering in order to "refresh" their CVs.
