Banks could prioritise customer service positions

Banks responding to problems with the economy will be looking to improve the level of customer service they provide, an expert asserts.

UK banking advisory leader for PricewaterhouseCoopers Andrew Gray predicts the institutions will concentrate on positions involving this skill type, such as sales jobs, in order to increase the money they will generate.

He suggests strength in this area will be prioritised for their potential to identify and secure new sources of regular income.

Commenting on recent research by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), Mr Gray says: "A key challenge going forward will be how to improve customer service and develop new revenue stream."

The CBI's research found companies believed falling sales to be their greatest concern.

Mr Gray asserts these skills will be required in order for banks to remain competitive, which suggests sales jobs may be prioritised.

CBI says its goals are to improve the ability of UK industries to compete effectively.
