Sales job success 'may not mean long hours'

People in sales jobs may be under too much pressure, one life coach has said.

Lynette Allen, who specialises in advising self-employed women and female-owned companies, has commented that people in Britain tend to equate professional success with long hours, perhaps mistakenly.

"We want to be the best at what we do and sometimes we are under that misguided apprehension that that means longer hours and being more accessible rather than working smarter," stated Ms Allen.

Some 35 per cent of adults surveyed by Standard Life Healthcare reported finding it difficult to switch off after the working day, with six per cent of those polled stating that de-stressing after clocking off was impossible.

In news that may be of interest to people in sales jobs, 70 per cent of workers leave their phones on all night, while five per cent of respondents have respondent to or sent emails during their workout.
