BDM, Automation into OEMs

Business Development Manager, Automation into OEMs - UK Wide role from Buckinghamshire HQ. £35,000 to £40,000 Basic, £45,000 OTE (uncapped) plus £4.8K car allowance. Renowned for innovation and high-quality products this niche and profitable provider of machine vision sensors has launched a leading edge product that surpasses competitor's technologies and is very keenly priced. Whilst this is a technical sale it is sold in a very commercial way into automation and end users often through system integrators. Therefore the important requirement is experience of selling into automation rather than a relevant academic background as your ability to network and negotiate are the key requirements. To apply you will have sold comparable products into OEMS such as automation, drives, process control, controls, linear motion systems, microcontrollers, Controllers, PLC's, SCADA, DCS, ICS, PAC, Conveyors, etc.

Reporting directly into the MD, this is a fast-paced and highly varied role that is selling into end users, OEM's and system integrators that requires a technically competent and experienced sales professional that is used to selling at conceptual levels, understanding client needs and 'speccing' product 'in hand' with customers. You are expected to have a strong depth of knowledge of various industries and manufacturing processes. Target sectors could include food and drink, pharmaceutical, engineering, aerospace, defence, chemical, automotive, high performance automotive and industrial.

To succeed you will have a commercial approach to technical sales, and this is certainly not a 'milk round' type of sales role having the 'same-old old meetings' with the 'same-old old clients.' The potential to earn is uncapped and based upon your success you are expected to become the Sales Manager, recruit further members to the team and drive the business forward.

As a person you will be positive, proactive and outgoing with a flair for listening and understanding client problems and working collaboratively to provide the right solution. You will be highly consultative in approach and be able to communicate with non-technical staff in terms they'd understand. You will be a strong character that's unafraid to lean on colleagues for support and help and be a genuine 'team player' looking for a long-term career opportunity.
